ANDY ZALTZMAN
BIOGRAPHY
Since reaching the final of So You Think You're Funny? in 1999, Andy
Zaltzman has been carving his niche as one of today's most original
and incisive political comedians
A headline act on The Comedy Network's UK wide club tour from
2000-2006, Andy performed his debut solo show Andy Zaltzman versus
The Dog Of Doom which saw a Perrier nomination for Best Newcomer
and a three week run at London's Canal Cafe Theatre. Hit solo
Edinburgh Fringe shows Andy Zaltzman Unveils The 2002 Catapult of
Truth (2002, naturally) and Andy Zaltzman Unravels The Great
Conspiracy (2003) followed.
In 2002, Andy teamed up with fellow comedians John Oliver and Chris
Addison to write and record a pilot for political comedy The
Department for BBC Radio 4, which was subsequently picked up for
three series.
The partnership with Oliver continued as they co-wrote and performed
Edinburgh Fringe shows Erm... It's About The World... I Think You'd
Better Sit Down (2004) and Andy Zaltzman and John Oliver Issue
a Series of Demands And Await Your Response With Interest . At the
same time they also co-hosted the satirical late-night revue Political
Animal at The Stand, which was later turned into a BBC Radio 4 series.
Andy's TV and radio appearances include BBC3's The Comic Side of 7
Days , BBC4's The Late Edition and BBC Radio 4's The
News Quiz and Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive. He has
also contributed his considerable writing skills to Channel 4's
Bremner, Bird and Fortune.
